Ana je izgubila u cetvrtfinalu od Dementijeve (tj. brani 75 bodova), a JJ je izgubila u polufinalu od Kuznjecove (brani 140 bodova)

jeste bolja ali po mom misljenju malo preteruje sa tim turnirima, moze to da bude i lose...sad ce da brani milion bodova

meni se cini da ce ona brzo da se vrati u formu i da ce biti ok u Dubaiju
bas mi se nekako cini da joj je ovo bio samo los prolazni period

Na stranu Ana koju volim nekriticki, u principu me ne zanima posebno uspeh "nasih" tenisera. Bitan je dobar tenis.

Posle RG, Ana moze samo da napreduje. Mislim da je dobro sto ce Ana i Jelena igrati na fed cupu. Cesto se desava da takvi dogadjaji uticu pozitivno na igrace. A i publika je tu da ih ohrabri.

Roger Federer should concentrate on his own career rather than criticising others, Serb Jelena Jankovic said after being irked by the Swiss master's unflattering verdict on her number one world ranking last year.


Last month, former world number one Federer hit out at the way the WTA rankings were calculated, saying a player who has never won a Grand Slam should not be granted the number one spot.

Jankovic reached the top spot in the WTA rankings in August having never won a major tournament. She lost her first Grand Slam final to American Serena Williams at last year's US Open.

The Serb has since dropped down to third in the world following a shock fourth-round defeat to France's Marion Bartoli at the Australian Open.

"To be honest, I do not like to talk about players, I really prefer to focus on myself," Jankovic said at the Paris Open.

She said she could not understand why Federer felt the need to hit out at women's tennis while his great rival Rafa Nadal, who took over from the Swiss as world number one, was so "humble".

"Why should he even care? I don't like putting my nose in other's business," Jankovic said.

"I mean, one thing I like about Nadal is that he is such a great champion, he is so humble, always has kind words for everybody, he is a role model for everybody.

"Federer is a great champion, I don't want to get in a fight with him but why does he care, I really don't understand. Why does he need to do that?"

Federer also led the charge against Jankovic's compatriot Novak Djokovic when he quit because of the heat in his Australian Open quarter-final match against Andy Roddick.

"I'm almost in favour of saying, you know what, if you're not fit enough, just get out of here," the Swiss said.

Jankovic said Federer should not criticise fellow players.

"I don't think it's nice to attack other players," Jankovic added.

"If he retired, he probably had his reasons, he knows better. You cannot attack someone when you don't have proof, when you don't have a piece of evidence.

"There is no reason to offend him that way."

Jankovic will open her Paris Open campaign with a first-round match against Italian Francesca Schiavone.

Grand Slam tennis dream fires Jankovic and Dementieva

PARIS (AFP) - Former world number one Jelena Jankovic says that losing her position at the top of the women's game has not diminished her belief that she can still win a Grand Slam.

The 23-year-old Serbian finished 2008 as world number one but has slipped to third after a crushing defeat to France's Marion Bartoli in the fourth round of the Australian Open.

Speaking at the Paris Open on Tuesday, she said: "Everybody dreams of winning a Grand Slam."

Jankovic held the top spot for 17 weeks before being deposed by Australian Open champion Serena Williams, who had questioned whether it was fitting for a world number one never to have won a major.

Jankovic, though, insists that the number one berth is a reward for season-long consistency - rather than peaking at the big tournaments.

"You can play great for a few tournaments but then you don't do well for the rest of the year and the other players get on top of you," she said.

"What matters is making great results the whole year."

Jankovic begins her Paris Open campaign with a first-round match against Italy's Francesca Schiavone on Wednesday.

Olympic gold medallist Elena Dementieva faces Japan's Ai Sugiyama, and the Russian third seed vowed that she, too, will not rest until she has won a major.

"It's always been a goal of mine," she said.

"Either this season or next season, but it's definitely in my mind."

The one major obstacle preventing Jankovic, Dementieva and beaten Australian Open finalist Dinara Safina from fulfilling their Grand Slam dreams is the dominance of Serena and her sister Venus, who have 17 Grand Slam singles titles between them.

Serena thrashed Safina 6-0, 6-3 in the Melbourne final after cruising through her semi-final against Dementieva, who conceded that the American poses a different challenge to the other contenders on tour.

"Serena is like all other great champions. She knows how to increase her level of play over the course of a tournament, especially when it comes to the Grand Slams," Dementieva said.

"You have to save your best play for the big moments, like the semi-final and the final. She really knows how to do it."

The year's next Slam takes place at Roland Garros in May-June, and Jankovic revealed it was her treasured ambition to break her Grand Slam duck in front of the Parisian crowds.

"I can speak French but I've never really had to speak it before," she said.

"My dream is to get to the final of the French Open and to give my speech in French."
