Gay cruise turned away by Turkey and Egypt sails into Zadar

The cruise ship Scarlet Lady, operated by Virgin Voyages, has sailed into the port of Gaženica. The ship arrived in Croatia after a stop in Dubrovnik, having previously visited Greece and Montenegro.

Scarlet Lady has drawn wide attention in recent days after being refused entry to certain ports in Turkey and Egypt over the themed LGBTQ+ voyages it runs.

According to available information, there are around 2,500 passengers on board — among them the Broadway star Patti LuPone.

The 277-metre luxury cruiser first set sail in 2021. It flies the Virgin Voyages flag and is an adults-only ship.

Scarlet Lady has more than 1,400 passenger cabins across 17 decks, with capacity for over 2,700 passengers and a crew of around 1,160.
