Henry Denton: He's a vegetarian. He doesn't eat meat.
Mrs. Croft: Doesn't eat meat? He comes to a shooting party and doesn't eat meat?
Mrs. Wilson: Now, now Mrs. Croft, we don't want to be thought unsophisticated. Mr. Weissman's an American. They do things differently there.

Warden Samuel Norton: I believe in two things: discipline and the Bible. Here you'll receive both. Put your trust in the Lord; your ass belongs to me. Welcome to Shawshank.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Red: [narrating] In 1966, Andy Dufrense escaped from Shawshank prison, all they found of him was a muddy set of prison clothes, a bar of soap, and an old rock hammer, damn near worn down to the nub. I used to think it would take six-hundred years to tunnel under the wall with it, old Andy did it in less than twenty. Oh Andy loved Geology, I guess it appealed to his maticulous nature, an ice age here, million years of mountain building there, geology is the study of pressure and time. That's all it takes really, pressure, and time. That and a big god-damned poster. Like I said, in prison a man will do anything to keep his mind occupied. It turns out Andy's favourite hobby was totin his wall through the exercise yard, a handfull at a time. I guess after Tommy was killed, he decided he had been here just about long enough. Andy did like he was told, buffed those shoes to a high mirror shine. The guard simply didn't notice, neither did I... I mean, seriously, how often do you really look at a mans shoes? Andy crawled to freedom through five-hundred yards of shit smelling foulness I can't even imagine, or maybe I just don't want too. Five-Hundred yards... that's the length of five football fields, just shy of half a mile.

Laura Jesson: This can't last. This misery can't last. I must remember that and try to control myself. Nothing lasts really. Neither happiness nor despair. Not even life lasts very long. There'll come a time in the future when I shan't mind about this anymore, when I can look back and say quite peacefully and cheerfully how silly I was. No, no, I don't want that time to come ever. I want to remember every minute, always, always to the end of my days.

Morgaine: As Lancelot made his decision, deep within me there stood something I had felt for no man before. Within days, on the orders of Viviane, I was on my way to take part in the fertility rites known as the Beltane feast. The ceremony she called, "The Great Marriage." To whom I would be given, I did not know. But Viviane assured me that the future of Avalon depended on my playing the role of the Virgin Huntress. And that my partner would be the man that killed the King Stag. As I returned to the holy isle, a great longing gripped my heart. I hoped that the man at the Beltane rites had been Lancelot, but I had never seen his face. There had been no hint as to who he really was.

"Scar tissue has no character. It's not like skin. It doesn't show age or illness or pallor or tan. It has no pores, no hair, no wrinkles. It's like a slip cover. It shields and disguises what's beneath. That's why we grow it; we have something to hide." -"Girl, Interrupted" Susanna Kaysen

----------
Roy Cohn: I have sex with men. But unlike nearly every other man of whom this is true, I bring the guy I'm screwing to the White House and President Reagan smiles at us and shakes his hand.
-----------
Ethel Rosenberg: [to a dying Roy Cohn] I came here to forgive, but all I can do is take pleasure in your misery. Knowing that I would get to see you die, more horribly than I did. And you are. Cause you're dying in shit, Roy. Defeated.
[Leans in]
Ethel Rosenberg: And you could kill me... but you couldn't ever defeat me... you never won. And when you die, all anyone will say is, "Better that he had never lived at all."
---------------
Prior Walter: But still. Still bless me anyway. I want more life. I can't help myself. I do.I'velived through such terrible times and there are people who live through much worse. But you see them living anyway. When they're more spirit than body more sores than skin when they're burned and in agony when flies lay eggs in the corners of the eyes of their children they live. Death usualy has to take life away. I don't know if that's just the animal. I don't know if it's not braver to die, but i recognize the habbit. The addiction to being alive. So we live past hope. If i can find hope anywhere, that's it, that's the best i can do. It's so much not enough. It's so inadequate. But still bless me anyway. I want more life. And if he comes back, take him to court. He walked out on us, he aughta pay.

Full of darkness and danger they were And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. Because they were holding on to something.

"Dearest, I feel certain I am going mad again. I feel we can't go through another of those terrible times. And I shan't recover this time. I begin to hear voices, and I can't concentrate. So I am doing what seems the best thing to do. You have given me the greatest possible happiness. You have been in every way all that anyone could be. I don't think two people could have been happier till this terrible disease came. I can't fight any longer. I know that I am spoiling your life, that without me you could work. And you will I know. You see I can't even write this properly. I can't read. What I want to say is I owe all the happiness of my life to you. You have been entirely patient with me and incredibly good. I want to say that - everybody knows it. If anybody could have saved me it would have been you. Everything has gone from me but the certainty of your goodness. I can't go on spoiling your life any longer.
I don't think two people could have been happier than we have been.

When the child was a child
there was the time for questions like-
Why am I me
and why not you?
Why am I here
and why not there?
When did time begin
and when did space end?
Isn't life under the sun just a dream?
Isn't what I see, hear and smell
just a vision of a world before the world?
Does evil really exist?
Are there people who are really evil?
How can it be that I who is me wasn't there
before I was
and that one day I who is me
shall no longer be what I am now

Blanche : I can smell the sea air. The rest of my time I'm going to spend on the sea. And when I die, I'm going to die on the sea. You know what I shall die of? I shall die of eating an unwashed grape one day out on the ocean. I will die - with my hand in the hand of some nice-looking ship's doctor, a very young one with a small blond moustache and a big silver watch. "Poor lady", they'll say, "the quinine did her no good. That unwashed grape has transported her soul to heaven". And I'll be buried at sea sewn up in a clean white sack and dropped overboard - at noon - in the blaze of summer - and into an ocean as blue as my first lover's eyes.

David: Come over here Maria. Look at yourself in the mirror. You are beautiful... but you have changed. These days you cast rapid, calculating, sidelong glances. You're gaze used to be direct, open, and without any disguise. Your mouth is an expression of discontent and hunger. It used only to be soft. Your complexion has become pallid, you use make-up. Your fine, broad forehead now has four creases above each eyebrow... And this fine contour from the ear to the chin... it's no longer quite so evident. That's where complacency and indolence reside... Look here, at the bridge of the nose, why do you sneer so often, Maria? ...Beneath your eyes, those sharp, barely visible wrinkles of boredom and impatience.

Imam iz crtanih filmova, ne znam da li se ra?una... a i mora da se prepri?a fabula da bi znali o ?emu se radi...
1.Jel' te mnogo boli, sinko?
2.Pa Ðorðe je u stvari lisac.
3.Meni to odgovaara.
Pas maltretira obojicu i vreða ih. Pas kaže "meni to odgovaara... "
