do you care at all to help?

Vel –

Things are only getting worse for people like me here in Russia. Every time I speak up for my rights as an openly gay man, I’m breaking the law, risking fines, harassment, arrest, and even physical violence.

That’s why the Emergency Hep Program is so critical to continuing the fight.

We need just 644 more All Out members to chip in before MIDNIGHT tonight to help fund Russia’s only Emergency Help Program for LGBT activists. Can you help?

– Kirill

Vel –

In 2013 I took to the streets with other LGBT activists in St. Petersburg, Russia.

We wanted a simple Pride walk. But were met by angry mobs, throwing smoke bombs and rocks. The police offered no protection – they even arrested many of us.

Three years later, it’s only gotten worse. Pride is still a violent battle and the Russian government just banned foreign foundations from funding groups like the Emergency Help Program – a non-profit I help run to provide emergency support to LGBT activists.

100 people applied for help from the Emergency Help Program last year, but we were only able to protect 20. Now, without the critical funding we used to receive, it’s looking like we won’t be able to help a single person next year.

That's where you come in. All Out members like you can help save Russia's LGBT Emergency Help Program by donating today.

Help keep Russian LGBT activists safe. Button: Donate today
Anything donated above our goal will help fund more campaigns for LGBT activists in Russia and around the world.

If All Out members donate $20,000 USD to the Emergency Help Program, we’ll be able to provide:

● Lawyers and psychologists for 10 people who have suffered verbal or physical assaults;

● Bodyguards to keep activists safe for 11 protests;

● A safe space for activists for an entire year;

● And other crucial services like paying fines for going against the gay propaganda law.

But none of this will be possible without your support today.

Vel – can you chip in today to save Russia’s LGBT Emergency Help Program?

Thanks for going All Out,

Kirill Fedorov, Russian LGBT Network

Vel,

Franco is being deported from Sweden. Because he's "not gay enough."

He fled Nigeria after being brutally attacked inside his house – a neighbour gathered a violent mob to beat him up after seeing Franco and his boyfriend together. His boyfriend was killed in the attack.

Now, the Swedish Migration authorities want to send him right back into danger because he couldn't "prove" his sexuality.

Franco is not alone: many LGBT people are being treated the same way in Sweden. But if thousands of us speak out, we can pressure the Minister of Justice, Morgan Johansson, to halt Franco's deportation and fix their humiliating asylum process for LGBT people.

Vel – sign to help stop Franco's deportation and fix Sweden's rules for LGBT asylum seekers. https://go.allout.org/en/a/stop-francos ... ctionsuite" target="_blank

Stop Franco's deportation. Sign now, EVERYBODY!
In their decision, Swedish authorities say Franco couldn't be gay because he "wasn't able to tell them about his inner feelings." They found it suspicious that he "didn't come to terms with his sexuality before the age of 16." Because of this, they want to send him back to Nigeria, where it's illegal to be gay.

Just a few months ago, a gay Iranian teenager was also denied asylum in Sweden because "he managed to get a passport to leave Iran." And a bisexual woman from Nigeria was told her claim wasn't credible, even though her girlfriend testified in court.

We can't let Sweden's Minister of Justice remain silent while more people are sent back into danger because they aren't "gay enough" to receive asylum.

If we speak out right now on behalf of Franco, future LGBT asylum seekers like him could be spared such a degrading experience. With humane processes and training for Swedish Migration staff, people like Franco could have a real shot at justice and safety when they're genuinely fleeing for their lives.

Please sign now, EVERYBODY!

Dear Vel,

Imagine being on your way home after a fun night out with friends. Suddenly the police stop your car and arrest you – for no other reason than they don't like the way you look.

It happened recently to two trans girls here in Tunisia.

After the arrest, the police forced one of them to testify against the other. They insulted, beat, and tortured one of them, Hèlà. Because she spoke out for her rights, the police initiated a prosecution against her.

On January 19, a transphobic judge convicted Hèlà of "indecency" and sentenced her to four months in a horrible men’s jail exposing her to even more violence. My friends at Shams and I will soon be going back to court to appeal the decision. But it will take a huge, global outcry to convince authorities to set Hèlà free.

No one should be jailed because of who they are. Click here https://go.allout.org/en/a/freehela/?ak ... tionsuitec" target="_blank to sign the petition asking Tunisia’s Prime Minister to free Hèlà.

Trans people under attack. Help free Hèlà. https://go.allout.org/en/a/freehela/?ak ... ctionsuite" target="_blank

This is not the first time this has happened: the LGBT community in Tunisia is under attack. Every week people get arrested or beaten up, just for who they are or who they love.

If we can help Hèlà, we will show that love can win in Tunisia. We will work hard to fight the sentence. But we need your help to win the case.

We know there's hope because we've seen it work before in our region. Last year, over 100,000 All Out members helped free two teenage girls jailed in Morocco for a kiss.

Vel – will you tell EVERYBODY TO sign and ask the Prime Minister to free Hèlà?

Update from two days ago

Vel –

An exciting update: Hélà, the girl arrested in Tunisia for being trans, is FREE!

Today, the Appeals Chamber released Hélà and ordered the review of her trial at a hearing scheduled for February 23.

That means it’s not over yet: we need to keep the pressure on until all charges are dropped. Can you spread the word and ask your friends and family to sign?

Vel,

Being gay is illegal in Sri Lanka – and can land you in jail for up to 10 years.

Now, for the first time in decades, there's a real chance for change: as part of a trade deal with the European Union, the country was asked to drop their anti-gay law.

Their answer? "No way."

The Sri Lankan government is trying to sweet talk the European Union: they want to get the trade deal and continue to get away with homophobia. We won't let that happen.

The European Parliament is debating the issue RIGHT NOW. And it looks like the European Union might give in. If thousands of us speak out, we can make them stop the deal until Sri Lanka commits to dropping its anti-gay law.

Vel, sign the petition and we'll deliver it straight to the European Parliament.

Sri Lanka: No deal for homophobes! https://go.allout.org/en/a/no-deal/?aki ... ctionsuite" target="_blank
Sign now and tell EVERYBODY to sign!
Here's what the Minister of Justice had to say about their anti-gay law: "Sri Lankans are not people with such mental illnesses." Unbelievable.

We know Sri Lanka really wants to get back into this deal. They were kicked out in 2010 due to allegations of human rights abuses during the country's civil war.

The government claims they've set their human rights record straight – and they're hoping the European Union will just ignore LGBT people. Not on our watch.

Vel – let the European Union know: "No deal for homophobes!"
